    Semaglutide is suited for adults seeking proven weight-loss results at a lower price point. It's generally recommended for people with a BMI over 27 (with weight-related conditions) or over 30, but not for those with certain thyroid cancers or severe gastrointestinal issues.

    Clinical studies report average weight-loss of 14.9–17.4% over 68 weeks. Users often experience reduced appetite and fewer cravings early on, with consistent weight loss over several months. It's important to note that compounded medications should not be presumed equivalent to their branded counterparts, and they are not reviewed by the FDA for safety or effectiveness.

    The most common side effects are GI-related – nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach discomfort – and they often improve over time. We start low and increase doses gradually to help minimize side effects. Rare but serious risks have been reported, including pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, and kidney injury. Tell your care team before surgery/anesthesia, since GLP-1s can slow gastric emptying. Animal studies indicated a risk of thyroid C-cell tumors.
